Landscape/Floral Watercolor Painting Workshop
With Kalani Pruet
Saturday, August 3rd 12-3 PM
Halawa Valley Tropical Farm

The Molokai Arts Center (MAC) returns to Halawa Valley for an afternoon of watercolors and fresh smoothies inspired by Molokai’s natural bounty. Come learn Landscape/Floral Watercolor Painting with us on Saturday, August 3, from 12-3pm.

Local artist Kalani Pruet, who prefers on-location nature observation and color mixing, will teach a 3-hour class right in his backyard. The class will begin with smoothies and a painting demonstration. Kalani will share fundamental watercolor techniques such as landscape sketching, silhouette and outline drawing, watercolor tiling and blending or layering methods. Cost is $30 non-member, $24 current member (please check to see if your annual membership fee is still current!). All painting materials are provided by the MAC and each participant will take their piece of art home with them. Register soon before the ten seats are taken!

Kalani Pruet received a BA in Art at UH Mānoa, is a past member of the Lahaina Art Society and Oahu Watercolor Society, and a current member of the MAC. He is a watercolor enthusiast specializing in Landscape painting and a full time resident of Halawa Valley. He spends much of his time maintaining Halawa Tropical Flower Farm, harvesting and selling tropical flowers, bananas, and roots.

Directions once you get to Halawa Valley:
  • Locate the green Ierusalema Hou church
  • Park down the road on the same side as the church
  • Follow the dirt road in front of the church west 1/4 mile to the flower farm.
  • Look for the little grass shack on the right.
