MAC’s Hawaiian Arts Program Presents: Ku’i at the Center: Learn how to Ku’i Kalo (pound poi)
August 6, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
This is National Health Center Week and the Hawaiian Arts Program is collaborating with MCHC in bringing Ku’i at the Center where the community can learn to Ku’i Kalo (pound taro) the way our ancestors did. Learn the difference between pa’i’ai and poi, join in the fun to learn to ku’i as well.
There will also be veggie tasting, seed germination, and plant starters. The event was created bringing Hawaiian Cultural food processing into the health world. MCHC services majority Native Hawaiians and there is importance between understanding one’s culture and health as well as, one’s self-identity with healing.
Open to the public as a free event at Molokai Community Health Center on August 6, 2019 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm, we do ask that participants RSVP to ensure that we have enough food supplies for all.
For reservations or questions please contact project manager at MCHC ‘Olelo Schonely at 808-660-2620 or email the Hawaiian Arts Director, Kanoelani Davis.
